In medicine, there are moments that change everything – and for urology at the ISAR Klinikum, this moment has been here for several years! We are one of the first clinics in Munich to use the revolutionary Da Vinci surgical procedure, a milestone in robot-assisted surgery. With this technology, we offer our patients not only maximum precision, but also gentler procedures and a faster return to everyday life. But what makes the Da Vinci system so unique?
Why the Da Vinci procedure is the future of urology
The Da Vinci system is not a robot in the conventional sense, but a high-tech extension of our surgical team’s hands. It combines the advantages of minimally invasive techniques with 3D HD imaging and freedom of movement that surpasses the human wrist. Here is an overview of the most important advantages:
Ultimate precision: The instruments of the Da Vinci system are 10 times more precise than the human hand – ideal for complex procedures in prostate, kidney or bladder surgery.
Minimally invasive, maximum comfort: instead of large incisions, only tiny access points – less pain, hardly any scars and a significantly reduced risk of infection.
Faster recovery: Thanks to gentle technology, patients can often go home just 1-2 days after the operation and are fit for everyday life again more quickly.
3D view in real time: Our surgeons operate with a high-resolution 3D camera that magnifies the surgical site down to the smallest detail – for optimal results.

Which urological procedures is the Da Vinci system suitable for?
The procedure is used for a variety of treatments, including:
– Prostatectomy (removal of the prostate in the case of cancer)
– Partial kidney removal (kidney-preserving tumor removal)
– Bladder reconstruction
– Ureteral corrections
“The Da Vinci system enables us to perform procedures that were hardly technically feasible in the past – and with a level of safety that sets new standards,” explains Prof. Dr. David Schilling, Head of Urology at the ISAR Clinic.

This is how a Da Vinci operation works in our clinic
1. Preparation: After comprehensive diagnostics and information, we plan the procedure together with you.
2nd day of surgery: Under general anesthesia, the surgical team inserts the miniaturized instruments through millimeter-sized incisions.
3. precise control: the surgeon sits at the console and controls the instruments in real time – with filter functions that compensate for involuntary tremors.
4. aftercare: Thanks to minimal stress, rehabilitation often starts on the day of surgery.
