A second life for medical technology: sustainability at ISAR Klinikum

The ISAR Klinikum is participating in a new, sustainable initiative by Medtronic that saves decommissioned medical devices from disposal. This week, ISAR Klinikum was able to transfer nine Midas Rex motors from the previous model back into Medtronic’s ownership free of charge.

Medtronic will test and repair these devices and give them another life. This is an important step towards reducing electronic waste and saving valuable resources. At the same time, safe medical devices maintained by the manufacturer are made available in other regions of the world – and can improve patient care there.

We hope that many more clinics will contact Medtronic and return technology that is no longer used. This not only reduces electronic waste, but also lowers the disposal costs for old appliances in clinics.

Sustainability and responsibility go hand in hand – together for better healthcare worldwide!
