The treatment of chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis is a focus of the Department of General, Visceral and Minimally Invasive Surgery. In cooperation with the Clinic for Gastroenterology, several thousand patients are treated conservatively and surgically in our interdisciplinary IBD center every year, making us one of the largest centers in Germany.

In order to do justice to this focus, we discuss your individual findings in our expert conference, the so-called CED Board. This panel of experts consisting of gastroenterologists, radiologists, surgeons and nutrition specialists will work out the best treatment plan for your stage of the disease. This can be conservative or surgical and is based on the current guidelines and the latest scientific research.
