Prof. Dr. Hartwig Bauer
Medical Director

Prof. Bauer has published more than 200 scientific papers in the fields of gastroenterological surgery, trauma surgery, and emergency medicine. Besides, he has acquired an outstanding reputation due to his work in hospital economics, hospital management and quality assurance, as well as in medical training and advanced training. He is a recipient of numerous awards and an honorary member of several national and international medical societies.
Dr. Christoph Bernheim
Medical Director

Dr. Bernheim has been medical director at ISAR Klínikum from 2006 on. He is a practicing vascular surgeon since 1993, focused on phlebology and cosmetic medicine. He was trained as a vascular surgeon from 1991 to1993 at the University of Göttingen, under Prof. W. Mohr. From 1986 to 1991 he completed his training in general surgery at the department of surgery, Municipal Hospital of Harlaching. Previously he was trained in intensive medicine, pacemaker therapy, and cardiac and vascular surgery at the University Clinic of Cardiac Surgery, Klinikum Großhadern.
In 1999 Dr. Bernheim was awarded his license to conduct advanced training by the Bavarian State Medical Association.
Prof. Dr. med. Wolf Heitland
Medical Director

Prof. Heitland is the author of more than 100 scientific articles in renowned journals and books, and has held more than 400 lectures on colorectal surgery at national and international conventions.
Prof. Heitland received several prizes and awards, including those of the Association of "Mittelrheinischer Chirurgen", the German Cancer Society, and the German Society of Surgery. He is an advisory visceral surgeon of the Bavarian State Chamber of Physicians, a member of the scientific advisory board of the German Society for Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, and a member of the scientific advisory board of Felix Burda Foundation – Network against Intestinal Cancer.
PD Dr. Ralf Rothörl

Dr. Rothörl has been serving as a practicing neurosurgeon in Munich and as Deputy Director at ISAR Klinikum from 2008 onward. Since 2012 he has been head of the department of neurosurgery at ISAR Klinikum. From 2006 to 2008 he served as senior physician at the clinic of neurosurgery, Technical University of Munich, at Klinikum rechts der Isar. He established functional neurosurgery at this institution. Before this time he practiced for eleven years at the clinic and polyclinic of neurosurgery, University Clinic of Regensburg, where he also completed his training as a specialist in neurosurgery, become a senior physician, and completed his habilitation (thesis to obtain the license to teach at university).
Dr. Rothörl studied human medicine at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, and obtained the degree of a medical doctor in 1997 at the same university, at Ludwig Edinger Institute of Neuropathology.
He published more than 60 original papers and is frequently requested to review papers for publication in the journals Stroke, Neuroscience Letters, Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, and the Journal of Neurotrauma. He also lectures regularly at renowned national and international congresses.
